Our PCR devices are being used for Coronavirus detection

We are using our devices for a field study at ETH Zürich to investigate whether users can test themselves for Coronavirus

Selftesting Coronavirus

Since the beginning of the Coronavirus emergency, we have been working on a fast, economical and resource-efficient test for SARS-CoV-2 using our new Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) devices and a DNA extraction procedure developed in our workgroup.
Our technology is being tested in a SARS-CoV-2 field study that we are currently performing at ETH Zürich, in which we provide a simple sequence of instructions in a step-by-step manner in order to allow untrained users (volunteers) to take an oral swab, extract their own DNA and then analyse it with our PCR devices.
The ultimate goal of our project is the development of a set of instructions and tools easily deployable for affordable, fast point-of-care DNA analysis. As our systems are very flexible, several other diseases beyond COVID-19 could be diagnosed with minimal changes (e.g. HIV, hepatitis, human papillomavirus…).
